DETAILS: PATTON'S BED (MONOGRAM IS IN COLOR SILVER)

It is quite common for people everywhere to view their pets as members of the family but here in the south, we tend to go one step further and build our homes around our dogs. In the 18th and 19th century, it was quite common here in the south to build homes referred to as "dogtrot" house. These homes were built with a large breezeway through the center of the house to keep its occupants cool by providing shade and catching the breeze but it also served as a common sleeping space for the family dogs. The small town in Alabama where I am from is full of these adorable houses. (I always found it so interesting to learn the history of these homes!)  Anyway, my point was we are serious about our dogs being included as members of the family and I wanted to find a durable yet stylish bed for Patton! One that could be placed on the front porch for him to soak in the sun and one that wouldn't look terribly out of place in the house! (You know those dog beds that just stick out like a sore thumb and ruin whatever aesthetic you were going for with your living room or bedroom decor?....Yeah, I've had those and it was high time for a change!) That's where my friend Rose at The Foggy Dog came in! I came across Rose's shop on Etsy and fell IN LOVE with her handcrafted (made right here in the good ole' USA) dog beds! Rose's eye for detail and quality makes these dog beds stand out from the crowd. She has some of the prettiest fabrics to choose from to ensure that it blends with whatever decor you have in your house! (Because who isn't tired of stashing the dog bed in the hallway closet when guests come over?!) Thanks to Rose's delightful designs you no longer have to! Patton has LOVED his bed. It's got great cushion to it and the fabric holds up in the washing machine when it's time to launder his linens! Be sure to check out Rose's Etsy shop - The Foggy Dog to order beds for your fur child! She also has tons of other cute items for your pets!

FARM FRIENDS

Our adopted baby, Lily. We have had her for about 3 going on 4 years! Someone abandoned her because she is getting on up there in age and has cataracts but we love her and she just fits in perfectly with us here! Seriously such a sweetheart!

We had a pretty big storm come through a few weeks ago and I was going to let Prince stay inside so I gave him a bath. As you can see he was thrilled about it!

Hey loves! I know I am soooo way overdue for a post it’s not even funny and I am SO sorry! A lot has been happening over here in the past few weeks from  me being sick, starting another business venture (super pumped to tell you more about it and hoping a lot of you join me! Boston what I'm talking about coming soon!), the impulsive decision to get goats, IEP time at school (if you work in Special Education – you know what I mean), and just the general business that accompanies an ordinary day! For those of you who may not be familiar – I work as a speech therapist in the school by day and blogger  by night! And sometimes it can be a challenge to juggle the two and this is one of those times! At least, until I get through May!!

So like I was saying a lot has been going on here and while it’s been super busy it has been SO much fun! If you follow me on instagram you probably thought I gave up fashion blogging and traded in for farm life – not true! While my blog does focus on fashion, I also include beauty, DIY, AND lifestyle! This new venture falls under the “lifestyle category.” SO if you hate seeing pictures of adorable baby goats and goat families – sorry but I’m not that sorry! They are the cutest!! I never knew they could be so much fun! My reasoning behind getting them was that we have some land we are wanting cleared down by our barn and I thought “Goats are cute and they’re basically inexpensive lawn mowers!”-  which they are but they are so much more than that! I tell you who's who in the description under the pics!

Seriously I can’t stand how cute they are. Mister, is a pygmy male who isn’t mean but is very shy. He’s warming up to me but I still can’t love on him like I can Marmie and Prince and he will usually only let me pet him when food is present. Marmie on the other hand is a Nigerian Dwarf female who up until yesterday I thought was preggo and expecting her first babies within the next month or so! I have been SOOOO excited to play with baby goats but sadly it seems that she wasn't bred like the man I bought her from told me she was. Sad, I know.  I think Marmie believes she is a dog. She follows me around the yard, just wants to be loved on and near me, has even tried to jump in the car with me, and cries when I leave her. They really do have such big personalities!   A few weeks ago  (on the day Prince died - can we just pause and have a RIP moment for his passing? like seriously how sad was that?! Raspberry Beret is on of my fave songs!!) anyway, on that day I brought home another little fella and named him...you guessed it..."Prince"! He is seriously the cutest, most adorable little thing! I love how tiny he is (he is only 2 months) and his little pink nose and clear blue eyes!! He's such a pretty boy that he looks as if he should be a girl! While they are little and cute they do require some work. I had to get them a fence – shoutout to my cousin Landon who helped me with fencing and went on the road trip with me to pick them up – they have to have shelter, food to supplement the grass, water, they have to be dewormed every 4 months or so and their hoofs have to be trimmed. So now I am getting used to this side offer life! It’s a good bit of work but it is such a fun experience! I’ve always wanted to have a small hobby farm with goats and chickens so it’s been a lot of fun getting to do the goat part of that!

Just wanted to drop in and give you guys a life update since I’ve been a little MIA recently. So much to catch you guys up on so stay tuned for other life updates as well as more fashion and beauty posts!! Hope you all enjoy the pictures of my new babies and have a great rest of the week!

XOXO - erin

Year 24

Hey everyone! I hope you are enjoying the blog so far! I am LOVING sharing these posts with you!  Next week the posts will be be more recent but I so wanted to share this special celebration that my family had for me on my birthday which was last wednesday, January 7th! I love that my birthday falls right after the start of a new year! In a way, it makes me really "feel" older! haha if that makes any sense! New year, new age...Anyway, it's great! So my family wanted to celebrate me and what better way to do that than decorate with things that I love like my moms antique serving ware and with my favorite sweet treats (we did not have chocolate covered strawberries but I LOVE those too!) The petit fours are from a local bakery and were delicious! But about that cake...my dad works with this man whose wife makes the most delicious cakes ever!! My favorite is her red velvet cake with cream cheese icing! (Did I mention that both the cake and the icing are homemade?) It's seriously the best! I have tried to get the recipe from her but she won't budge! So if any of you have an amazing red velvet cake recipe please share it with me!! I would love to try it!

I am so excited you all get to see the first of many pictures I will post of Patton on this blog! He is always by my side and I wouldn't have it any other way!

My outfit details: gold skirt: jcrew (old), pink cashmere sweater: cynthia rowley via t.j.maxx  (yes, Im a Maxxinista, and it's pretty great!
